Finding Happiness in Life Franklin WI

How many can look in the mirror and say I love and am proud of that person? Who do you need to be, what do you need to do or have in order to be self-actualized? “Self-actualization” was defined by Maslow as “the desire to become more and more what one is, to become everything that one is capable of becoming.” I’ve always been struck deep to the core by those like Randy Pausch who taught us in his moving “Last Lecture” how to live each day as if it were our last. So what will it take before we learn to forgive ourselves and others, to give each other copious numbers of tries to “get it right” and accept our mistakes? All of us are really after the same thing, aren’t we? Climbing the mountain of success is never ending – waiting for “that magical day in the future when everything is just right in order to feel happy” is futile, it’ll never come on that path- there will never be enough of the external trappings of success to make one happy. In Kung Fu Panda, Master Ugwe said it best, “There is a saying: yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the “present.””

Dr Eric Plasker, a mentor of mine, always said that trying to fill the hole we feel in our gut, the part we feel is incomplete, with money, success, approval, etc., only makes the hole bigger. He suggested we fill the hole from the inside out with our loving service of others. As we put our attention on loving others we realize we have an eternal wellspring inside if we give and share unconditionally. As a Christian, this is what I believe we are each called to do in our own way, as taught as well in Rick Warren’s The Purpose Driven Life. It is the conditions we place on our giving, however, that dry up the well, and actually make it about filling up the hole from the outside-in again. Some have described it as filling up your cup each day so you can pour into others’ cups and top theirs off. My love and gratitude for God and my family, the awe and wonder I feel about nature, and my knowing that I can make a difference in the world, all fill my cup each day. How about you?

Chiropractic is all about empowering authentic healing from the inside-out and about taking responsibility for your lifestyle choices including how you eat, move and think. The more you realize how precious you truly are, it is much easier to make the moment to moment choices to take care of yourself so you can become everything you are capable of becoming.
